What is the Hawai‘i CHANGE Initiative?

The Hawai‘i CHANGE Initiative grew out of a commitment from attendees at the 2018 Hawai‘i Executive Conference to take action to address critical issues confronting our state.

Through the adoption of Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s CHANGE Framework, many of these conferees committed to meeting several times following the Conference to prioritize and discuss the issues and challenges facing our islands. They agreed to commit themselves to identify ways to make Hawai‘i better for all residents and work collectively to achieve these goals.

The initiatives of these leaders, who strategically aligned themselves to the different CHANGE Framework sectors based on their experience and expertise, will be shared and discussed at the 2019 Hawai‘i Executive Conference.

What is CHANGE?

The CHANGE Framework, created by the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, aims to create movement towards building a Hawai‘i where every person has the opportunity to thrive. CHANGE is a platform that provides a common set of data to help identify gaps and opportunities in our community, inspires partnerships around shared goals, and aligns efforts for collective action and impact.

The Hawai‘i CHANGE Initiative aspires to engage the “all-in” commitment and passion that leaders have for our state and inspire them to collaborate and take meaningful action to bring about positive changes in the Islands.

How is the Hawai‘i CHANGE Initiative distinguished from other efforts?

The Hawai‘i CHANGE Initiative is not meant to duplicate or compete with any of the outstanding initiatives already underway in the state. HCI aspires to bring greater attention, resources and political involvement to existing efforts, while helping foster tangible connections and synergy with other endeavors in similar or different sectors.
